Dancing England Rapper Tournament 2009

DERT, as it has always been known, has been held since the mid-1980s, and has become one of the focal points of the year for the UK rapper community.

DERT 2009 was held in Newcastle upon Tyne, partly to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Newcastle Kingsmen and the 40th anniversary of the Sallyport Sword Dancers.

The tournament revolved around five pubs on Tyneside, each team dancing in each pub, in front of two judges. Prizes were awarded in several categories, Premier, Centenary and Open, as well as for best musician, best character and best young team. A Traditional class was also held.

This DVD, which was filmed in the Cumberland Arms, captures the essence of dancing rapper in a confined space, before a knowledgable audience.

Featured on the DVD are complete dances from those teams coming 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the three main competitions, as well as a compilation section, featuring every other team which took part. A film of the evening prize giving is also included.

Length 75 minutes. Price £11.50 including p&p.
